Gaseous LPG (Propane and Butane gas) leaves this type of LPG camper tank, which is used in, for example, Motorhomes or Foodtrucks. For example for cooking or heating. Suitable for placement under a vehicle (Transverse or Longitudinal) depending on the available space and requirements, or in an open ventilated area.

If the gas tank is placed in the vehicle (interior), the use of the optional gas tight housing is mandatory and it must be mounted gas-tight. To be used in combination with a vent hose and a bottom vent for discharging any gases to the outside.
This LPG tank is not suitable for driving on LPG (liquefied gas).

Gas Tight Housing option: A Gas-tight-housing is used to protect the valves and, in the case of located inside the vehicle, to collect any gases from the tank and then to be able to discharge them via a vent hose and bottom vent. A gas-tight-housing is required if the LPG tank is placed in the interior of a vehicle and must be connected gas-tight by means of the supplied rubbers. A gas-tight-housing is not necessary if the LPG tank is placed in an outdoor area or in an open ventilated area. For example, under construction. Then the LPG tank can blow off directly into the open air.

Inside the vehicle / Under the vehicle in open air: In the case that the gas tank is placed inside the vehicle (built-in), it is necessary to provide the gas tank with a gas-tight housing (tank box) and a vent hose, etc., for draining of any possible gases to the outside. A gas-tight-housing in combination with a manual extraction valve cannot always be made gas-tight....
When using a manual extraction valve with a SHELL connection, it is NOT possible to connect the gas-tight housing, which means that this combination is NOT suitable for built-in (indoor space), but only for substructure or in an open, ventilated space.
In the case of a manual extraction valve with an 8mm compression connection, the gas-tight housing (tank box) can be connected gas-tightly, but only if the extraction valve is facing inwards with its outlet. (the gas pipe can then be placed in a loop in the gas tight housing or lead out of the gas tight housing or on the same side as the filling hose).
With the manual extraction valve pointing directly outwards, the gas-tight housing cannot become 100% gas-tight, because there is no space for placing a gas-tight plastic tule and rubbers. As a result, the installation indoors is not possible.

MANUAL EXTRACTION VALVE 8mm: A vapor gas tank is fitted with a manual valve as a standard. This means that the outlet of the gas tank must be opened and closed manually. This can sometimes be difficult if the tank is placed far below the vehicle and is difficult to access. A manual Valve is standard equipped with an 8mm compression coupling, so that an 8mm LPG pipe (copper / plastic) can be connected to the pressure regulator.

MANUAL EXTRACTION VALVE with SHELL, instead of an 8mm compression connection, we can install a SHELL connection with a W21.8 left-hand thread on the hand tap. This option is sometimes used to connect a pressure regulator or a high-pressure gas hose or pipe directly to the vapor tank. (An additional adapter to a G.12 connection may be required for a good gas-tight connection.)
NB! With a hand tap with a Shell connection, the tank cabinet cannot be connected in a gas-tight manner and this method is therefore only suitable for an outdoor area and not suitable for built-in (indoor space).

ELECTRICAL EXTRACTION VALVE you can also opt for an electric extraction Valve that is powered with 12V (11W) (Normally Closed) via an electrical circuit with an LPG switch and fuse (not included). This makes it possible to open and close the tank valve from the vehicle interior. It must be taken into account that if you stand still for a long time with the elec. extraction valve energized (1A), this could drain the battery.

An 8mm LPG (copper) pipe also fits on this type of extraction valve, by means of a Flare connection. Type: 5/16" UNF

Have a gas tank installed by an authorized specialist! And have the entire installation inspected by a competent authority.

For a solid and safe installation, apply the RDW-GUIDELINES and NPR-2577-GUIDELINES or the guidelines of your national authority.

Tankfixation:

Use mounting rings, mounting brackets or a complete Vapor tank installation kit of the corresponding diameter. Or have a look at all our tank fixation material.

Pay attention to the positioning of the vapor gas tank for proper functioning of the tank. The marking (cross on the left side above the fittings) on the gas tank indicates the horizontal center plane and the top. The fittings are directed slightly downwards (i.e. just below the horizontal center plane). If the tank is not mounted in the correct position, the tank will not fill properly, liquid gas may come out of the tank instead of vapor gas, and other problems may arise.

TIP!

In case of LPG substructure: Gas tank and valves provided with a protective coating (undercoating) for longer life. Repeat this annually.

The pressure in the gas tank varies from 1 to 20 bar (depending on the temperature), but this is in any case too high for the equipment you want to supply with gas (BBQ, burner, gas stove, etc.). It is therefore always necessary to reduce the pressure to a constant low pressure (30 - 50 mbar). This is done using a pressure regulator that is connected to the outlet of a gas tank (directly or with the intervention of a high-pressure gas hose or -pipe and/or high-pressure gas filter).

Tip! Sometimes it is also possible to position the pressure regulator in such a way that it is placed relatively closer to gas-consuming equipment, so that the low-pressure pipes can be kept shorter. (This prevents a possible pressure drop in the low-pressure pipes.) Please note that the high-pressure pipe and pressure regulator may not be installed in the interior. These should always be placed in the outdoor area or in a space ventilated with the outdoor area. This because of a possible leakage and existing pressure relief valves, which prevents the gas from entering the interior space.
